This was the only popular track for the pop group Lena and her band, and they were consequently dubbed a “one hit wonder”.

This song is apparently based on an actual event, a concert in West Berlin where balloons were released near the Wall. Nena and her band were there, and? given how trigger happy everyone was concerning nukes, she imagined what would happen if a bunch of balloons were mistaken for an attack as they drifted over the East/West frontier.
